What a fantastic event this year – another great success for the The Early, Early Christmas Fair, once again raising significant funds for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. The event raised some £37,000 which will make such a huge difference to our service men, women and their families and the Charity is so grateful to the support that this event receives every year.

The atmosphere was buzzing, with lots of keen shoppers in a beautiful setting. There was a wonderful array of unusual stalls, delicious lunches and teas and a new edition this year: Marc Allum and Lisa Lloyd from the Antiques Roadshow doing free valuations. They were amazed at the many unusual items that were brought for them to examine, and saw some incredible pieces that would stand out at any real roadshow.

The Preview evening supper hosted by Sarah Rose Troughton, the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, was one of the best yet.

‘Thank you so much for inviting me to the Early, Early Christmas Fair last night. I enjoyed myself hugely and was delighted to have a chance to meet a number of your supporters and indeed fellow-shoppers. I came back laden with goodies for under the Christmas tree. You work tirelessly to bring the Fair to fruition year after year and it is without doubt the best in the area. Thank you for all you do and The Soldier’s Charity must be so grateful to you and your team for supporting them in this way. I am honoured to be the Patron’.

New addition this year was freevaluations by antiques roadshow experts…Marc Allum and Lisa Lloyd – who will be joining us again in 2018!

“We were so pleased to have helped in a small way; the EEC fair is a great institution and it’s annual contribution to the ABF Soldiers Charity is raised by a selfless, hardworking group, who together muster great enthusiasm for a wonderful event. Hope to help again’. Marc Allum & Lisa Lloyd.

Caroline Cary, the Fair Organiser said: “I would just like to say thank you to everyone who came and supported this event – to our dedicated volunteers, all the shoppers, stallholders, our 2 wonderful Chelsea Pensioners and to everyone involved without whom this could never take place with the success it currently enjoys. In particular, I would like to thank our long term sponsors, General Dynamics and Aspire Defence, together with Knight Frank and, new this year, Sodexo who sponsored the champange reception, all of whose notable generosity make it all possible.

Remember to put next year’s event in your diary. It’s always the last Tuesday and Wednesday in September and in 2018 that will be Tuesday 25th and Wendesday 26th. This is one of the biggest single fundraising event nationally for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and your support is invaluable.
