2019 Celebrating 75 years of ABF The Soldiers’ Chairty.

Early Early Christmas Fair Last Year 2018.

What a fantastic event this year – another great success for the The Early, Early Christmas Fair, once again raising significant funds for ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity.  The event raised some £34,000 which will make such a huge difference to our service men, women and their families and the Charity is so grateful to the support that this event receives every year.

The atmosphere was buzzing, with over 2000 keen shoppers in a beautiful setting. There was a wonderful array of unusual stalls, delicious lunches and teas and it was lovely to welcome back  Marc Allum and Lisa Lloyd from the Antiques Roadshow who were doing free valuations. They were amazed at the many unusual items that were brought for them to examine, and saw some incredible pieces again. There are always wonderful people popping up at this event and this year Hugh Bonneville was back supporting his wife’s stunning business Indigo Island and we were also delighted to welcome Richard E. Grant, creator of unisex perfume JACK and well known to many from roles in Withnail and I, Logan, Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey and he will be seen in Star Wars Episode IX late next year.

The Preview evening supper hosted by Nicky Alberry DL, High Sheriff of Wiltshire:

“Thank you so much for inviting me to the Early, Early Christmas Fair last night. Lovely company, a glass of champagne,  excellent curry supper & lots of shopping opportunities too! My girlfriends had a shopping spree and I do hope the 2 days raised lots of money for The Soldiers’ Charity”

Caroline Cary, the Fair Organiser said:  “I would just like to say thank you to everyone who came and supported this event – to our dedicated volunteers, all the shoppers, stallholders, our 2 wonderful Chelsea Pensioners and to everyone involved without whom this could never achieve the success it currently enjoys.  In particular, I would like to thank our long term sponsors, General Dynamics and Aspire Defence, together with Sodexo who sponsored the champange reception, all of whose notable generosity make it all possible.”

Remember to put next year’s event in your diary. It’s always the last Tuesday and Wednesday in September and in 2019 that will be Tuesday 24thand Wendesday 25th. This is one of the biggest single fundraising event nationally for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and your support is invaluable.

We would like to thank our Mrs Sarah Rose Troughton CSt.J,  Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, President of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity Wiltshire who was with us in 2017.

“Thank you so much for inviting me to the Early, Early Christmas Fair. I enjoyed myself  hugely and was delighted to have a chance to meet a number of your supporters and indeed fellow-shoppers. I came back laden with goodies for under the Christmas tree. You work tirelessly to bring the Fair to fruition year after year so thank you for all you do – The Soldiers’ Charity must be so grateful to you and your team for supporting them in this way.  I am honoured to be the Patron”.

So pleased to have helped in a small way; the EEC fair is a great institution and it’s annual contribution to the ABF Soldiers Charity is raised by a selfless, hardworking group, who together muster great enthusiasm for a wonderful event. Hope to help again’. Marc Allum & Lisa Lloyd.
